  september 11, 2001. riding the bus to school that tuesday morning we discussed the implications of the monday night football game between the broncos and the dolphins.

  I see what you are saying but I feel there will always be those who will cling to it no matter what. I think of my brother who is now 71 years old, in 10 years he wil be 81. If the Wt. was gone or changed really big time I feel he would be one to stick with it because of being to old to change. His hopes all but gone he will reason this is still god's organization. In many ways he has change in his thinking at one time he believed he would never grow old and die now he tells me he and his wife are waiting to die and be ressurected in the future. So I feel the thinking of many will change but the core of this cult will still be around. Still Totally ADD

  i have come to the conclusion that posting here and visiting this site is not healthy for me anymore.

  i just get angry and upset when i read all the stories of injustice and corruption that go on in the jehovahs witness religion.

  they are true no doubt, as i have personally experienced many injustices and abuses in my life from being a witness.

  An asteroid is coming in 2036

  a friend of mine who is a astronomer told me a asteroid will hit the earth near ca in 2036. it will make a close pass by earth in 2029 and if it goes through a certain point he called a donut hole it will come back and get us in 2036. i asked him if it is big enough to cause problems?

  he laugh and said it is extinction asteroid.

  he went on to say the russians are already working on a plan to destroy it before in makes it here or try and change the course of it.

I said to him you are kidding are you not. The answer was no he was very serious about what he said. I then asked him if it would be better to be near the event or on the other side of the earth and look forward to a slow death. He said it would not matter were you were. The heat from it would make it a quick death. I have known this man for awhile now and I know he is no quack. He was very concerned about this. He said many of the end timers in our area are already making a big deal out of it. Maybe the idea of 1914 plus 120 = 2034 is not so far off. Have any of you heard of this? If this is true I will see you all on the dark side of the moon. LOL Still Totally ADD

  on the other hand, many do think they are in fact a dangerous cult.

  Let us not forget the young children who go to school already paranoid about how evil everyone is. Then all alone have to stand up in front of everyone and defend Wt. teachings. Which makes them targets of other children and teachers. Often times to the point they are in danger of their own physical and emotional health which will last a life time. Yes they are dangerous.   It is so obviously a lie......now

  once the spell is broken, one you take a deep fresh breath outisde of the watchtower camp, the amazingly obvious realisation becomes clear.... of course this is a lie, of course this is ridiculous!

  you find you have memories of really believing the claims and promises, but it seems like another life, another experience.

  it seems so incredibly false once you leave and it is very difficult to belive you even once accepted it!

  Good Job snare&racket. I am still amazed at the fact I did not see this until I was 54 years old. By then child grown with children of their own in the cult. My wife and I stand alone in our family not willing to listen to the cult talk anymore. I remember them telling us to live one day at a time in the faith. Will one day turned into one month and then into one year then into a life time of years. Here I am almost 60 years old looking back and all I can do is shake my head and think what was I thinking of. I see it so clearly now but as a born in it truly takes time for many of us to see what is really behind the curtain. Good for you to come up with such a great explaination on how cults keep you in. Stilll Totally ADD

  One thing about this site that bothers me

  the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.

  but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.

  one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

  I remember our teachers would tell us to do good on our test because we did not want to grow up to be ditch diggers. Well those ditch diggers make pretty good money these days. I wish I would have been able to get higher education but the Big A was just a few years away (1975). I wanted to be a meteorologist but of course that would take me away from all those boring meetings and door knocking. So I went into contruction trades. I can now build a house from the ground up blind folded. That and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee. I love any trade that helps or builds things that help people. I feel we are all on the same page when it comes to the Wt. in what they are doing. That is keeping people brain washed from not following their dreams. That is just wrong. Eveyone should have the right to follow their dreams no matter what they choose. Still Totally ADD

  I guess this is the first post. Pre-9/11, Clinton still in office, I was still brain washed in the cult. I was only 46 years old. My, my times have chaged. I thought I would bring this to the front for the new ones to see. Still Totally ADD but didn't know I was back then. LOL

  What I really hate....

  is that i was born into this cult, taught and believed that i was going to live forever, , that i was never going to have to die.

  now i am in my mid 30's realizing that this life is all there is and that after that i am dead forever and i am terrified.

  i don't want this to be all there is, , i don't want to just live a few years on this beautiful planet and then become non existent forever!

  Soon I will be 60 years old. From around my late 30's until I finally left the Wt. 2011 I suffered with similar anxiety attacks. I must say 99% stop as soon as I was no longer following the cult. With that said I hope you get help soon the heart is nothing to play with. Knowing this is all we have has given me a bigger propose in my life. I for my part in some small way want to leave this earth in a better way than I found it. I work hard at helping others who are beaten down because of life. I try to find joy in the little things and share my knowledge of living a simplier life. Being more active in my community is another big step I am working on. Sitting on the front proch of our house and listening to the birds and insects, watching a sunset, looking up at the stars are just some of the things one could do to reduce anxiety. Getting away from the TV news also helps. I feel for you. Been there done that. But there is hope. You have a long life ahead of you. Make it the life you want not what some cult wants you to do. It took me 54 years to figure this out and I am happy I still have time to make a small diffrence. Take Care and take care of yourself. Still Totally ADD
